Our History: Inspired by the Light of Revelation
From Cave Hira to New Zealand – A Legacy of Divine Guidance
The journey of Alhera Da’wah finds its spiritual roots in one of the most sacred and transformative moments in human history — the moment when Prophet Muhammad ﷺ received the first revelation in Cave Hira (غار حراء).
Over 1,400 years ago, in the stillness of that cave on the Mountain of Light (Jabal al-Noor), the Archangel Jibreel (Gabriel) descended with the divine command:
اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ
“Read in the Name of your Lord who created.”
— [Surah Al-‘Alaq, 96:1]
This was not just a call to read. It was the beginning of Da’wah (inviting to Allah) — a universal call to truth, justice, mercy, and the worship of One God.
Our Name: Alhera – A Symbol of Awakening
The name “Alhera” is derived from Cave Hira, where divine light first touched the heart of humanity’s final Messenger ﷺ. Just as that cave became the cradle of Islam, Alhera Da’wah Trust aspires to be a humble means of spreading that same light in the modern world — particularly in the diverse, peaceful land of Aotearoa (New Zealand).
Our Birth in New Zealand
Alhera Da’wah was established by a group of passionate community members in New Zealand who felt the urgent need to:
From street Da’wah booths and university events to public lectures with international scholars, Alhera has grown into a recognized platform of active engagement, inclusivity, and authentic Islamic values.
Our Growth and Milestones
Continuing the Mission
We believe that every act of Da’wah — no matter how small — echoes the spirit of that first revelation in Cave Hira. As such, Alhera Da’wah Trust continues to walk in the footsteps of the Prophet ﷺ by:
“Let there be a group among you who call others to good, encourage what is right, and forbid what is wrong – it is they who will be successful.”
— [Qur’an, 3:104]
